The time has come: Sparta must secede from West Springfield

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all students are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness — That to secure these rights, high schools are instituted among students, deriving their just powers from the consent of the administered, — That whenever any form of administration becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the students to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new administration, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that school administration long established should not be changed for light and transient causes.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations such as soggy shoes when it rains, huge crowds and loud construction noises befalls upon our student body.  Pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such administration, and to provide new guards for their future security and comfort.
Such has been the patient sufferance of these trailers; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of schooling. The history of the present West Springfield is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these trailers.
It is now time, fellow Trailers of Sparta, to unite under the tyranny of a half demolished building and form our own school separate from that of the main building. A new school where we can improve upon and grant students the right to not worry about whether a light rain is coming or if the door to their classroom will be walled off the next day. It is time to secede from West Springfield and formulate a new school called “The United Trailers of Sparta” which will survive and thrive on its own.

The battle for secession will be hard fought, make no mistake, but in the end with the people’s support, decency will prevail and independence will be found.
