Four months after releasing an album that flopped, Rihanna has caught the public’s eyes with her new album, “Loud.”
With hits like, “What’s My Name” and “Only Girl in World,” Rihanna has made it so her audience knows that everyone has their ups and downs, and if you believe in yourself, you can bounce back from anything.
The talented singer was able to maintain top hits for up to 13 weeks; over the summer, her number one hit “Love the Way You Lie” featuring Eminem remained on the Billboard top 100 charts for 24 weeks. She later released “Love the Way You Lie Part 2” which explains the girl’s point of view of this song. Both parts will be remembered because of the intense, haunting lyrics and featuring of rapper Eminem.
When an artist features another artist, particularly a multi-platinum recording artist, it will undoubtedly give the song a lot of leverage.
Her new CD has an innovative but savvy feel to it. With a hip new hairdo, Rihanna has combined both rock and pop into her songs.
LA Times calls her “strobe-thumping new album” definitely her comeback to be back on top. Once she makes the top 50 hip-hop and pop charts she remains heard for up to months.
“I’m overwhelmed by the quality of each song. [It] brings its own flavor to the near perfect CD,” said popular critic Michael Burke. “She’s back with an anthem, club staple and power ballad.”
The excited, upbeat sound of Rihanna’s new album suggests that she is now past the depressed stage that she went through recently.
The music world has always been competitive, but it has gotten harder over the years with the many new faces who are now new producers and artists.
In running with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Ke$ha, Rihanna has made her name known as the more experienced and catchy of them all. Competing with her voice is no problem for Rihanna, but her everyday outfits and show time wardrobes are truly competitive with Gaga’s and Ke$ha’s fashion styles.
After the allegations with Chris Brown, she went through a stage where all she sang about was being beaten up or sad. That stage is now over, and an upbeat version of Rihanna is back on top of the charts.
No matter what she’s gone through, her music will never drop and she will always be on top.
