Do it for the Vine and capture fame
A video is worth a thousand words, even if it’s only six seconds.
There are two types of Vine users: those who make the clips and those who watch the clips. Each of those can be divided into subcategories such as Vine creators who are frequently watched, people who create random “remakes” of actually funny clips, and hopeful music artists who post their six second songs. As for the viewers, I’d say there are two types: the occasional viewers who aimlessly scroll to kill time, and those who watch Vine religiously to stay updated on their favorite Viners.
“It’s one of my favorite apps…it’s really funny and very short so I can watch a lot at one time, which is why I stay up till midnight every night,” said junior Katie Goeringer.
Currently, Nash Grier (who has no recognizing talents, but has 6.1 million followers) has the most followers on Vine. While he, along with many other Viners, became famous from their accounts, several well-known celebrities have struck an interest in the Vine world. Actor Josh Peck from “Drake and Josh” currently has 4.1 million followers, and One Direction member Harry Styles has 1.9 million. One of my personal favorites, Jerome Jarre, spreads happiness with his Vines and positive messages and was even featured on the Ellen DeGeneres show.
“I really love Jerome Jarre and Logan Paul,” said Goeringer.
Logan Paul and his brother Jake Paul are well-known Viners, but aren’t the only famous siblings. Marcus and Cody Johns and Nash and Hayes Grier are other renowned sets.
Several accounts are shared by two or more members, such as the popular singing pair UsTheDuo, the hilarious Zane and Heath, and the made-famous-by-twerking Dem_White_Boyz.
Popular Vine users have taken it upon themselves to have meet-ups all around the country. This gives fans the opportunity to go and meet their favorites. The “Magcon Tour” features several famous Viners who travel around the country and interact with their fans. One of the members of this tour, Matthew Espinosa, currently has 2.3 million followers. Espinosa is from right here in NoVA and attends Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria. He’s known for his amusing sense of humor and resemblance to Justin Bieber.
“I have friends who go to Bishop Ireton and I recognized him from that” said senior Morgan Farquhar. Espinosa was just an ordinary student playing football for his high school when he found fame through Vine. You never know what familiar face could spring up on your timeline with millions of followers.
Whether you like the musical accounts, the hilarious clips, or the adorable animals, everyone can find entertainment in Vine. Goeringer has discovered one of the best aspects of Vine.
“I love all of the puppies!” said Goeringer.
