Before I went to see “Just Go With It,” I made sure to read the reviews.
A movie like this looked predictable and I was a little skeptical because I thought it would be like any other romantic comedy.
After reading a few reviews, I got the impression that the movie would not be the greatest. Almost every critic gave it a ‘D’ and called it “a waste of time.” Just two minutes into the movie, however, I was laughing so hard that my mind was immediately changed for the better.
The movie is about plastic surgeon named Danny Macabee (Adam Sandler) who had his heartbroken when he was younger and he decides that he will make sure his heart is never broken again by not getting attached to any one relationship.
Seems like every other romantic comedy, right? But there is a twist; although Macabee becomes a stereotypical “ladies man,” he uses a wedding ring to pick up girls.
Macabee meets a pretty, much younger woman named Palmer (Brooklyn Decker) who he falls head over heels for. Palmer finds his wedding ring and doesn’t find the thought of him being married very appealing as most others do, so Macabee tells her that he is getting a divorce from his wife and he just carries his ring around.
Macabee turns to his loyal assistant Catherine Murphy (Jennifer Aniston) to help get him out of that situation. Murphy pretends to be Macabee’s wife and meets Palmer, because Palmer insists that she meet Murphy to make sure that their relationship is over.
During their meeting, however, Murphy takes a call from her daughter. Palmer thinks they have kids, so Macabee bribes Murphy’s kids to be his fake kids.
This is when the movie really got good. The hurdles that Macabee has to go through to make his fake family seem real were the best parts of the movie.
I’ll admit that the movie was predictable, but it was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time.
From the opening scene to the ending scene, you will be cracking up with laughter. I almost never recommend movies, but this film is really a must-see for those who love comedies. Sandler and Aniston prove to be a dynamic duo in comedy and have great chemistry on screen.
This movie proves that the critics are sometimes wrong about movies, and even ones that get poor grades on reviews can be great. If you are in the mood for loads of laughs and a great time, you should go see this movie.
