Dear Editors:
After reading Thomas Ariale’s March 10 article, “Just keep rowing,” I felt the need to correct some of the misconceptions that came across in the story about the crew team.
First off, the crew team is on the water practicing in late February, not late March. Our winter workouts go from early November until late February. Starting then, we row in our shells together in order to do well at the races that start in late March and go until the end of May.
Another problem that I would like to address is the statement about how the first eight (the top Varsity boat) is entirely seniors this year. As of today, half the rowers are juniors! I would ask that you check your facts about what you are reporting on.
The last thing I ask is that you interview more than one person for this article, because even though you picked a good person to interview, you should ask the juniors and the freshmen about their experiences so far with crew.
I know that crew is not one of the most popular and cared-about sports in the school, but I ask that you treat the team with the same dignity and respect you do with any other sport.
