Oh, television. Whether it’s a gripping-the-edge-of-your-seat drama or reality TV, teenagers love their screen time.

With 500+ channels, it’s hard to believe the common complaint that “there’s nothing on.”

To help the TV-guide naive or the indecisive, we composed a poll of the school’s most popular shows.

Despite the reality show frenzy that dominates MTV and E!, it was the scripted “NCIS” that ranked number one.

“I’m more into crime scenes, not musicals,” said junior, Carliegh Cron.

Similar to “CSI”, “Criminal Minds” and “Bones,” “NCIS” explores the world of crime investigation, offering suspense and action.

Those who advocate it are drawn in by the show’s variety and lack of predictability.

“It’s a fun show to watch,” said senior Patrick Ing. “Some shows are just the same thing every time.”

Speaking of shows that have limited variation, “American Idol” scored well below it’s competition. Possibly the result of losing famous and critical host Simon Cowell, the loss of viewers is most likely the result of too many seasons.

Scoring slightly higher than Idol, “Glee” still beckons devoted Gleeks, helping it survive the often inevitable “sophomore slump.”

Remember when TLC wasn’t 90% about pastries? Neither do we. Although sometimes forced, “Cake Boss” has a large batch of followers.

“Even thought the cast is hard to watch, the show as a whole is awesome,” said senior Michael Hess.

Finally, in its third season the guidos and guidettes of “Jersey Shore” are still fist-pumping strong. In season four the cast will be catching “grenades” in Italy.

No matter what you watch, TV is still a great way to relax and kill a few brain cells.

“Its relaxing, especially after the stress of school,” said junior Hannah Frank.
