‘Breaking’ up is hard to do

Iconic series nears an awaited, epic season finale

After five seasons of Breaking Bad, senior Eric Rodriguez, although sad to see it coming to an end, is eagerly anticipating the final finale of the award winning show.

“I am sad that it is ending.  However, if they were to draw it out longer they wouldn’t be able to maintain the same quality, so I’m glad that it is reaching such a climactic ending,” said Rodriguez.

The quality of production and the script, in combination with the skill of the actors, is what has kept fans watching the show throughout its almost six years on television.

“Bryan Cranston’s acting is phenomenal, as is Aaron Paul’s.  It’s also interesting to see how RJ Mitte has evolved as an actor.  When the show started he was only 16 and now he’s a much more mature actor and yet still captures the essence of Walter, Jr.,” said senior Laura Wolinsky.

Breaking Bad even has literary merit.

“In episode 14, the flashback that showed how Walt was when he and Jesse first started cooking was an interesting juxtaposition between what he was then and the monster he is now,” said Wolinsky.

As the September 29th finale approaches, viewers are making predictions about the fate of the characters to whom they have grown so attached.

“I’m super amped up for the finale and can’t wait to see how it all plays out.  I’ve been coming up with different scenarios in my head so it’ll be awesome to see which one happens,” said Rodriguez.

Others feel more strongly and are hoping for a dramatic fate for their most disliked characters.

“I think Jesse is going to escape and then get into an epic standoff with Walt in the finale and die.  I also think that Marie is going to commit suicide and that Skylar, although I hate her, is going to make it,” said senior Drake Dixon.

No matter what happens in the finale, it’s sure to be good.  A show as successful as Breaking Bad has to go out with a bang.

“Breaking Bad is one of the best shows that has ever been on television,” said Wolinsky.
