Jingle Ball, Jingle Ball, Jingle Ball rock!

With the holidays come those little traditions that we all enjoy every year: making a snowman, drinking hot chocolate and gathering around the fire to watch the Jingle Ball.
What is the Jingle Ball you may ask? Only the biggest concert of the Christmas season that gathers the latest and greatest stars for a music blowout! The lineup of performers last year included Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Enrique Iglesias and Paramore. Held on December 16th and at the Verizon Center, this was the concert of the Christmas season!
This was not just any concert with one or two bands but a long string of the hottest stars of today. The Jingle Ball has been consistently one of the biggest music events of the year. Miley Cyrus has become a household name, along with Selena Gomez. Both were at one-time Disney Channel stars and have now branched out into their own music. Paramore has always seemed to play back and forth between the alternative and the pop, but Enrique Iglesias has made himself unique in the pop music world with his own Spanish flavor.
Fall Out Boy, Fifth Harmony and Robin Thicke also performed. Fall Out boy is right alongside Paramore, on the line between pop and alternative, but Robin Thicke is a newer rising star with his recent hit “Blurred Lines.”
Another thing that makes the Jingle Ball unique is the fact that a large portion of ticket sales go to charity. One of the largely debated topics of the holidays is that it has become way too commercialized in America. (If you haven’t heard this theory just stop by Mr. Eldredge’s room in 243B and ask him if he loves Christmas). Many would point to the Jingle Ball as a symbol of the commercialism but it is actually donating a large portion of its revenue to charity. So America may appear to be commercialized, but that doesn’t mean that charity and helping the less fortunate has gone out the window.
Concert organizers aren’t the only Jingle Ball gift-givers. All of these celebrities care enough that their usual fee is most likely cut so that proceeds can go the charity.
All in all this Jingle Ball was not only an awesome concert with the most popular and wanted stars playing, but also a symbol of the fact that even though America become more and more commercialized, charity is never out of the question.
