The new ‘Bachelor’: Is he the Juan for you?

Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis has got girls (and some guys) feelin’ some type of juay.
Season 18 of abc’s “The Bachelor” is muy caliente with this Venezuelan bachelor. The 32 year old bachelor Juan Pablo started his journey to love with 29 year old Desiree Hartsock on season nine of “The Bachelorette”, but got sent home after the seventh episode in Spain. While he did not have much air time he became a huge hit on social media which helped him to become this season’s bachelor. Because of his good looks and accent, he has had the biggest number of potential girls who could become his wife with a number of 27 eligible bachelorettes when there are usually 20.
“I like the girls especially when they fight,” said senior Lauren Dameron. “It makes for good TV.”
Juan Pablo’s reasoning for joining Chris Harrison’s love circuit is to find a mom for his five year old daughter, Camila and to find for himself the love of his life. Not only is he a full time dad but he also works for the Miami Dolphins as a sports and entertainment consultant.
Before Camila was born he played professional soccer for both Venezuela and America. It was when Juan Pablo was playing for Miami FC when he found out that his ex-girlfriend Carla was pregnant. After their daughter was born they stayed together for two years and recognized they were not meant for each other. Thus, his reasons for searching for love.
“I didn’t think it’d be him because he got out so early, but he seems like a good dad and is in it for real,” said Dameron.
Thus far of this season’s “The Bachelor,” the girls have been to Los Angeles, California, Seoul, South Korea, Vietnam, New Zealand, and now his hometown Miami, Florida. These journeys have consisted of midnight swims, getting custom made kimonos in Vietnam, private band concerts, bungee jumping, soccer playing, girls fights, and of course a whole lot of tears and smooching.
“He’s like a ladies’ man,” said senior Will Ballard, “From what I’ve assessed is he is bad with chicks and a player.”
For all of the people who do not know much about “The Bachelor” this is how the expedition of love happens. In this case, 27 women show up in a limousine and come out one at a time to meet their potential future husband. After all the women come out of the limo, they have a cocktail party where the girls get to know each other and of course Juan Pablo.
At the end of the night there’s a rose ceremony where Juan Pablo gives a first impression rose to the girl who caught his eye and then he sends home girls he knows he does not see a future with. Then throughout the week there are either single dates or group dates. If a girl has a single date, then they have to get a rose by the end of date or else they are sent home. If they receive a rose they are safe for the following week. At a group date, someone will get a rose and they are safe as well.
Now after week seven, the remaining four girls will take their boyfriend home to meet their families for their hometown dates. If that goes well, three girls will get to meet his family and a night into the fantasy suite where no cameras will be rolling. Two girls will be left and either one of the girls will end up with the man of their dreams while the other one is heartbroken or he will end up with no one.
While the show is controversial because some believe no one can find their true love in such a short amount of time, others believe that the process is just like a dating service.
“The process is right for some girls who are there for the right reason, but it’s dumb for other girls who are just there for the show,” said Ballard.
