After revealing that her documentary was in the making in November 2019, Taylor Swift finally released her first documentary on January 31st. The documentary is about how Swift gained success and it shows her entire journey to fame and fortune.
“I Know That Without Me Writing My Own Songs, I Wouldn’t Be Here,” said Swift.
The film showcases Swift’s raw and emotionally revealing look during a transformation period in her life as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice,” according to a press release. After the film was released, the film quickly shot up to being the the top Netflix biographical documentary in IMDb history. The film was directed by Lana Wilson and as she films Swift’s life over the past seven years, she shows her transformation over time. The film is compiled with various interviews, studio footage of her recording, videos of her lifestyle and friends, and videos Swift has taken herself. During the movie, Swift discussed various important times throughout her life. She talks about her sexual assault case, her past eating disorder, her mother’s diagnois of cancer and her political views. Miss Americana encourages female power as Swift always empowers women through her songs. The documentary not only showcases Swift, but the various family and friends that have impacted her life and journey to where she is currently. This documentary shows many different aspects of her and shows how she managed to reach all of her goals.
“Everyone in music has their own niche they do that sets them apart from everyone else. I know my story telling is what it is for me,” said Swift.
