They see me rollin’, they hatin’

Ask anyone who has graduated high school, and they will immediately say that senior year is one to remember. Senior year is about the last year of childhood, the last chance to make a mark on the school for years to come.

One way that many seniors elect to make their class memorable is through a variety of fun-spirited senior pranks and other traditions.

On Friday, September 13th, a mob of seniors took the school by storm when they arrived into school on their scooters. The day was unofficially dubbed “Wheels Day”. Unfortunately, due to safety precautions, it was broken up immediately. However, participants were still proud of their efforts, and felt that it went fairly well.

“We thought it’d be funny, and no one’s ever done anything like it before,” said senior Scott Berger.

Berger has unofficially taken on a role as the class prankster, with the help of several accomplices, as well as an eager senior class.

“It didn’t seem like anyone else wanted to do it, so someone needed to step up,” said Berger. “I feel like there are expectations of me, so that could be bad.”

Any senior can affirm that there is no bad intentions with their actions; pranks are meant to try to make future WS students remember that senior class, and to get a good laugh.

“Senior year is special. The finish line is right there in front of you. These good-will gestures in celebration of senior year can be funny, as long as they are not meant to harm anyone, and in good spirit. I think underclassmen and administration have come to expect it. Students need to come talk to me before getting their ideas approved, and be careful what they choose,” said Senior Class Administrator Erin Lenart.

Lenart encourages seniors to enjoy their senior year, but to be smart. She remembers what it was like to be a senior, and her senior class made a few (safe) memories of their own.

“Before school one day, we all met at the Dairy Dip, which was kind of like a McDonald’s. We all left at the same time, lined our cars up one by one in a perfect line, and all pulled into the parking lot while laying on our horns. It was like an hour-long processional of obnoxious horn noises,” said Lenart.

Lenart, being responsible for the senior class overall, does have some advice for senior year in general.

“Do things out of your comfort zone; it’s important to get involved and make experiences. College is a year away. Enjoy being a senior,” said Lenart.
