ITT Tech Hits Rock Bottom
October 11, 2016
Half a century into the works and ITT Technical Institute is down in the dumps.
ITT Tech is known to have had 130 campuses in 38 states, and has now completely shut down due to baseless and uncreditable education.
“The school was not giving the skills they needed,” said Tisa Frederick, WS Career Center Specialist.
The closing of ITT Tech has raised questions on whether or not the school has provided proper transitions for its thousands of students, who now cannot receive a degree even if they were in the home stretch of finishing their education.
“I’d hope they have something in place for the students during this transition,” said Elizabeth Wahl, school counselor at WS.
Well, the answer is no. ITT has led their students straight into the slumps of adulthood. Students have considered the thought on whether their courses taken at ITT Tech will even present as an accomplished credit for the next school they enroll into, and it is certainly nerve-racking for them.
To the students awaiting their next destination, an online education becomes clearer, more reliable, and a likelier probability. Schools online are seen as an outstanding financial option for those highly in debt and or who cannot afford the set costs of public campuses. Online Education seems to offer the same baggage as public campuses, but it’s the college campus experience that holds the rest of the students from enrolling into the online courses.
“There’s something to be said about going to class, and being challenged,” said Wahl.
Sure, online classes can be seen as the easy way out, but some claim the experience is worth the consequences.
There’s no way of masking this scandal, for #ITTTech has made its debut on social media across the country by memos sent from the thoughts and “hearts” of politicians.
“Sometimes education gets put by the wayside of political leaders,” said Wahl.
Not this time. ITT Tech was not only shut down due to the invalidity of teaching there, but also by The Obama Administration due to the heavy tax burden put on citizens. Americans are now subject to paying $500 million dollars from federal loans taken out by former ITT Tech students. Others see the shutdown as a blessing because if it were later more problems would have come about. If Americans ever thought they would receive breathing space from federal taxes, they better think again.
“NY students [all ITT Tech students] have been misled, defrauded or fallen victim to unfair practices by institutions like #ITTTech,” said New York Senator, Chuck Schumer.
