Facebook compliments page radiates positivity

To the world, High school students are typically brutal, gossipy, rude, and bad drivers, and many more unfavorable terms. Now at WS, they are kind, thoughtful, and admirable.

If you have not added “West Springfield Compliments” as a friend on Facebook, you better put this paper down (for now, at least) and go befriend one of the greatest things to inspire WS students.

This page, for those of you who don’t know, is an anonymously run page that is determined to spread admiration to those at WS who others look up to.

The page asks for students (of any grade) to do their part (not P.A.R.T. thank goodness) is to message the page, pointing out a person who they saw doing something great or just being great. The anonymous person who runs the page will then tag them in a post for everyone to see how great they are. Basically the opposite of “Gossip Girl.”

High school has become a very supercilious place where students bully each other or aren’t “popular” enough. But this page inspires students, who aren’t always appreciated, to feel included and loved by someone anonymous.

This doesn’t encourage students to gloat about getting mentioned but to pass on that good feeling to someone else that has not been mentioned yet. So if you have been tagged in a West Springfield Compliments post, I encourage you to post one about someone else and make him or her feel as loved as you did when you were mentioned.

Many pages on various social networks have been negative about WS such as “wshsproblems” on twitter. These pages insult the school and harm our pride, but “West Springfield Compliments” does the exact opposite. This page has taught me more about how to get rid of cyber bullying than all the lame videos in Spartan Time combined.
