Snow, snow, snow all day

It is the dream of every student to wake up to a snow day. They get to sleep a little later procratonate a little longer and make the best of the anything can happen snow day. A day off allows spartans to take a breath and have a break. Snow gives Spartans the oppertunity to bond with one another and bond with the snow and be one with nature.

Throughout the winter season, every high schooler goes to sleep with the dream of waking up to a world of white, having their parents say “go back to sleep,” and that their tweets of #closefcps had paid off.
Spartans in particular hope for more closures as the reconstruction has clearly proven itself to present more safety hazards with the icy concrete stairs and slippery bleachers.
The journey to trailers will seem even longer than it already is and who says the teachers will be more understanding?
While it is hard for FCPS to discern the right decision between safety and the importance of seven extra hours in school, Spartans find it easy to advocate for what action to take. Through the use of Twitter, students push for closings as snow days off can be very beneficial.
A day off for Spartans allows students to take a breather and actually live. We can release the energy we usually store in the walls of our school or should I say trailers?
Snow gives Spartans the opportunity to bond with one another in ways we rarely get to enjoy. People trek back to Irving MS to utilize the big hill of snow with their fellow Spartans.
Big snowball fights and the making of snowmen are ways Spartans take advantage of this occasional weather too, which we only get to appreciate for three months of the year. The smiles on flushed faces is just one indicator of everyone’s stress being relieved.
For those who aren’t the biggest fan of the cold, Spartans can finally cuddle up with a book that they can actually enjoy reading without overanalyzing every single page. A cup of hot chocolate and a warm bed can allow students to be even more productive if they are hoping to get ahead on work.
And for the many who stay up until two in the morning, or even pull all-nighters for the sake of a grade, they can finally close their eyes for a peaceful sleep.
Even teachers can find benefits in snow days off. They are able to have time for themselves away from restless teenagers and take the opportunity they get to bond with their families.
Snow days are a necessity for us Spartans as they allow us to be distracted from the stress of school for a bit, bond with one another, and take a break to just enjoy life.
