Cuffing season begins at WS
November 30, 2017
The leaves have started falling, just like the couples that have started falling for each other.
Cuffing season has officially arrived. Many know it as a time when the number of couples starts increasing as a result of single people wanting to be in a serious relationship during the cold months of the year.
Fall and winter weather calls for more indoor activities, and you know what they say, the more the merrier.
Being in a relationship during the colder months makes watching movies less lonely, baking cookies more fun, and drinking hot cocoa together more enjoyable. Gloomy days are perfect for games. Snow days are perfect for sledding. Cold days are perfect for cuddles. The fall and winter is just such a great time to have a companion.
People are so thankful for their newly established relationship around Thanksgiving. They celebrate with cute presents for Christmas and kisses to celebrate the New Year. To cap off cuffing season, couples show appreciation for each other on Valentine’s Day.
But unfortunately, the weather will warm up and spring will be upon us. This is when cuffing season comes to an end. The nice weather makes people antsy both in school and in their relationships.
People begin to realize that a relationship can be stifling. The desire for freedom increases the more the sun is out and that includes freedom from a significant other.
People begin to break off as a result of the weather change and less hand holding, hugging, and kissing will be seen in the hallways and out in Sparta.
However, the concept of cuffing season should not exist. The act of being a relationship should not be limited to three months at most.
If you choose to commit to a relationship, you need to understand that the weather should not control its duration. People really need to rethink tying themselves down if they are only in it for the season.
Although there are many benefits to being in a relationship during this time of the year, there are many other ways to be less lonely without committing yourself to someone.
Some high schoolers have one more winter and others have four more to embrace their friends during this wonderful period of the year.
I mean who doesn’t enjoy watching a movie with a group of people instead of just one on the couch?
Cuffing season can be a fun season for high schoolers but the label itself goes beyond the importance of staying committed between November to January but rather throughout the whole year.
