Will 2K15 live up to the hype?

From crazy alley-oops and buzzer beaters to posterizing your friends, all this excitement and more is expected in the upcoming video game NBA 2K15.
The release of the next generation NBA2K always creates hype. The desire to play with the new rosters, players and new features, makes students excited for the launch. 2K has been boasting over 6,000 new animations, new smooth gameplay and real player voices during interviews, really trying to get the most out of the next generation consoles.
Reigning MVP Kevin Durant graces the cover this year, sharing the honor with players such as Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Lebron James. This is also the second time Durant has been featured on the cover, last time sharing it with Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose on NBA 2K13. Pre-ordering the game also gains the player access to a rookie Kevin Durant card in the popular game mode “MYTEAM.”
“I like Durant; he represents the DMV area and is a big Redskins fan. He deserves it, he’s been putting in work for his team,” said Senior Jai Sharma.
NBA 2K15 also is adding a new game mode “MYLEAGUE,” which is a new, improved version of previous game mode “MYGM,” as well as bringing back fan favorite game mode, “Crew Mode,” where you can create a team together with your friends to take on other teams around the world.
“I like playing with my friends, It’s always fun winning or losing,” said Senior Jon Oh.
“MYPLAYER” mode has also been revamped in this year’s edition, now having the option to scan your face using the PS4’s camera or the Xbox One Kinect. The process of scanning your 3D model takes less than 30 seconds and creates a virtual representation of yourself to play in the game mode, adding another level of personalization. Now when you alley-oop off the glass to yourself while putting Lebron James on your poster, it looks and feels like you.
“My favorite thing to do is make my own character… it’s pretty cool now [that] your player looks like you, it’s awesome,” said Sharma.
Students prepared for the release of the game are ready to get the jump on “MYTEAM”, using the Durant rookie card and a little Virtual Currency to make a strong team early on.
“Right when I get the game I’m making my team, opening packs to set my team,” said Sharma.
