‘Woman in Black’ came back

Almost three years after its first release, “Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death” hits the big screens with a puff of irrelevance.
With no returning characters from the first movie, except for the Woman in Black herself, the movie was almost completely different from the first. The few key points from the first movie left the viewers with many questions about the backstory of the main plot.
The age of scary movies has turned to drab as multiple un-chilling films emerge. Unfortunately, Woman in Black 2 was not an exception. Many pop-up scares intended to have the viewers jump out of their seats happened throughout the movie, but nothing incredibly special. The cliché scary face and locked doors that ended up open did not surprise the general audience.
A viewer could go home and forget all about the so-called horror film completely unaffected. Unlike the classic horror movies, “The Woman in Black 2” was a forgetful 90 minutes. Those scary dreams and that feeling of someone behind you will not go home with the viewers.
With new animation techniques and sophisticated sets now shown in movies, it seems that the creators of this wretched movie completely relied on their own craftsmanship. The sets and props in the movie seemed handmade and very overdone, reminding one of 1983 Michael Jackson “Thriller “music video.
Although this movie did not live up to expectations, it did have a set of new characters that did appeal to the audience. A far-fetched love story erupted in defense of the antagonist, later causing the audience to silently cheer the love birds on. The movie ended with many unanswered questions. The vague ending could lead to another disappointing movie, which I would only watch if it was free on Pay-Per-View.
The movie was definitely not worth 13 dollars out of my pocket nor the hour and half I spent watching it. I would not recommend Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death to anyone but a crude jokester looking for a simple laugh.
