Ferrell and Hart hit the screens ‘Hard’

Dynamic duos have been the movement in recent times. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in basketball, Drake and Kanye in music, and now in theaters it’s the duo of Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell. In their new movie “Get Hard, “the two accomplished comedians brought laughter to people like they usually do, but this time they did it together.
“The two together were a legit match,” said senior Joey Sandroussi, who is an avid comedy fan. “I appreciated the fact that they made this movie.”
The movie has been well received by critics since it opened on March 27. Being rated a 6.3/10 by IMDB, many people believe the movie to be a hit. The movie was highly anticipated by the public since Kevin Hart announced its production back in the winter of 2014.
“The movie has been hyped a lot,” said senior Max Nguyen, who has been a huge Will Ferrell fan for a while now. “From all the hype it received it could have been a little better.”
Not only did this movie bring laughter to people, but it also showed diversity in a time where personal race has been a very big concern. The white and black duo did what the Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold’s “Beverley Hills Cop” series accomplished. It mad an attempt to diversify comedy and the way that people look at it.
“I think the two showed that comedy is comedy,” said Nguyen. “The segregation of comedy into black and white didn’t really make sense and it depicted that.”
Comedy is comedy and laughter is laughter. The movie showed that two people from different worlds and racial backgrounds could come together in times of crisis. Hart plays a struggling entrepreneur in the hood with a car washing business and Ferrell plays a wealthy hedge fund manager getting ready to marry his boss’s daughter and get promoted until he gets arrested for embezzlement and is sentenced to 5 years in a maximum security prison. Ferrell tries to get Hart to help him with surviving prison by paying him to train him but ends up making a friend. This movie used humor to show that background or culture or race doesn’t and shouldn’t matter.
With every positive review that it received, the movie has also received its share of negative reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a 29%, with some public critics calling the movie an amateur showing. Others say that the movie is humorous with a dash of childishness that adds to the humor. At the end of it all, they all agree that the movie was funny and was made with the two funniest comedians in the game right now.
“I would recommend it to anyone that likes to laugh,” said Senior Brian Mejia. “You won’t regret watching it.”
