Shut up and eat your dinner

Is Prom ‘feast’ better than the actual dance?

Prom season is here and dinner plans must be made. From the fancy restaurants to the dollar menu at McDonald’s, seniors are already saving money for prom dinner.
Prom is a huge deal and everything must be perfect, including the meal. Many WS students have already been making plans and reservations to go places locally and even some a bit out of the way.
“Last year I went to a really nice Italian restaurant in Old town. This year I would try some place different and bigger, maybe the Melting Pot” said senior Jacque Weir.
The Melting Pot is an upscale fondue restaurant. Its style and setup is perfect for large groups and it gives a great dining experience. They equip you with skewers to place your food on so you can dip it in the cheese, cook your vegetables in a broth, and plunge your dessert in chocolate. However the Melting Pot can get pricey as you pay for a three course meal per person.
“I went to an Italian place last year and it was really classy. I want to try The Melting Pot but I’m worried because it can get messy” said senior Suzanne Sauter.
Many people agree that if you go to the Melting Pot, you should go with a bigger group of people. It can be a great experience for a group of friends and cheaper as you pay just for yourself.
“I went with a group of friends and it gave us something to do and talk about” said senior Brett Bowker.
Many other students went to Maggianos for prom last year and with one now open at Springfield town center it will be an even more popular choice.
”Maggiano’s was really good. They had many options and it was like family style so there was more to choose from” said senior Hannah Bowden.
Maggianos is a classic upscale Italian restaurant with a big menu. They have a variety of options and can accommodate for larger parties. They bring out all the food at once and everyone at the table shares it.
“It was really good and they brought a lot of food for a flat fee” Said senior Abby Brewer.
Maggianos is local to the West Springfield area however some students are planning to go to National Harbor and have dinner by the water. Other students plan on going to the country club to take pictures and eat dinner. But no matter where you go for prom dinner, make sure it is the right choice for you and your wallet, and always plan on a wait. Reservations should be booked soon to ensure that you and your date will have the dinner you want, and that you won’t have to wait a long time for your table.
“If I go back to Maggianos I would plan on going a little bit earlier” said Bowden
