Students take a stand against bullying

Bullying is a disease, actually, a plague that affects so many communities. The unanswered question is, does it exist inside the walls of this school?
From what I see, it does exist. The bullying video shown in advisory put on by the peer mediation class, shows that there are a lot of cases of bullying that students have seen. Many students may say that it’s not there and we are making big deal out of nothing. If that were true then we wouldn’t be losing students to suicide.
Bullying isn’t the stereotypical “give me your lunch money or I’m going to stuff you in your locker you puny nerd” type of bullying we see in movies. It falls into many categories, like name calling, rumor spreading, physical bullying, excluding people, and making one feel like less of a human being.
It’s obvious that we see all of that in this school. During lunch there are students who ignore the kids that sit by themselves making that person feel excluded, making them feel like less of a person than they actually are. It is sad actually how one person can stoop so low as to making a human being feel so inhuman. It’s crazy that we still live in our own little world where we force ourselves to believe that we don’t see bullying or that it isn’t even there. Sooner or later we’ll see that we’ve been wrong but I’m sure that won’t happen until someone decides to inflict self-harm. We make it so hard just to say one nice thing, but the truth to the matter is saying a mean thing to someone takes as much time as giving someone a compliment. It’s easier to say “You look nice today” than to say something that makes you sound like a jerk.
I don’t understand why people say bullying doesn’t exist at WS because it does, at one time we’ve all been a part of it and we’ve all at some point bullied so we can’t ignore it. Weather people bully on purpose or on accident, they still hurt someone. And that is just not cool. Why do we do it?
That depends on the person and the situation. Because at the end of the day there is no logical explanation to why people have to make other people feel horrible in order to make themselves feel better. Yes it does exist and it is up to us to stop it.
