A super surprise for Trunfio

Are you ready for some football?

Our very own senior Jordan Trunfio was ready. This February, he attended the big Super Bowl game on one of the best Sundays of the year. The Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco Forty-Niners went head-to-head in a tough physical battle for the National Football League championship at the New Orleans Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Before the game, Trunfio was over the moon.

“This is probably going to be an incredible experience that will happen once in a lifetime,” said Trunfio.

And indeed it was. With Beyoncé Knowles, along with other members of Destiny’s Child, performing at halftime and the power outage in the third quarter that lasted 34 minutes, it was definitely a Super Bowl to remember.

Trunfio was beyond excited to attend, thanks to a few friends.

“[I got the tickets] from one of my dad’s friends who works for the company NetApp. Domino’s Pizza, St. Baldrick’s Foundation, and Redskins Radio all raised money for me and my dad to go,” said Trunfio.

Although Trunfio is an avid Redskins fan, he jumped on the opportunity like any football fan would.

“[I was rooting for the] Ravens since the Redskins got out of the playoffs,” said Trunfio.

Lucky for him, Baltimore managed to pull off a win of 34-31 over San Francisco. However, it was a game in which the audience was definitely on the edge of their seats.

“My favorite part was the end of the game where it was so close,” said Trunfio.

Although football was the main event, Super Bowl Sunday has left people talking about more than just a close game. The blackout was a huge surprise for everyone. Many may think it would be cool and an interesting incident, but Trunfio sets the record straight.

“It wasn’t too bad; it was just sitting in an uncomfortable seat for longer than I wanted to. There was only a tiny bit of room for everybody,” said Trunfio.

Regardless, Trunfio’s experience was worthwhile, and he would jump at the chance to attend a Super Bowl all over again.

“I definitely liked it a lot and I definitely want to be at another one sometime in my life,” said Trunfio.
