Ten journalists from The Oracle attended the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Media Championship today to expand experience through lessons on news practices and took home an award at the conclusionary awards segment.
The VHSL Championship brings focus to interscholastic competition in the vein of news publications, literary magazines, yearbooks, and broadcast programs from the school year prior.
Attendees began the occasion with a lecture from keynote speaker Jim Streisel, then proceeded to six blocks of sessions to grow journalistic knowledge from experienced advisors, and ended with a customary awards ceremony.
The Oracle Online won a first class certificate in the Online Publication category.
“I feel that I learned a lot at the conference from the amazing guest speakers. I was especially excited when The Oracle Online won first class, showing us that our hard work paid off last year and that we should keep it up this year,” said sophomore and News Editor Whitney Moffa.
