The intense, contact sport of… juggling?

WS has everything from football to soccer and anime club to ultimate frisbee, but you know what we are missing: combat juggling.

Combat juggling, better know as combat or gladiator by jugglers, combines everything you love about juggling with the joy of combat. I mean how many times have you been juggling and thought to yourself, I wish I could battle someone at the same time. Only like every time, right?

“Combat juggling is less of a sport and more of an art form,” said juggling expert junior Kyle Jenson.

There are five different ways to play combat juggling: aggregated five on five, zombie combat, sumo combat, breach, and 360s combat. Each mode of play has the same general concept: disrupt your opponent from juggling while maintaining your own three-club juggle. How one goes about doing that is completely up to them; popular strategies include tossing one of your own clubs and stealing an opponents or just simply using one of your clubs to hit an opponents’ away. As for fouls and penalties, one can be penalized for using “excessive” force, which is completely up to the referee to determine what is excessive and what the penalty is.

“It makes for a very interesting game because every match is different,” said Senior Daniel Large a self-described juggling enthusiast.

Combat juggling would be perfect for WS’s next club; it even has a pro league for players to aspire to. Combat juggling is a professional sport; the MLC (Major League Combat) is just like the NFL or MLB for jugglers except for one major difference, you can literally sign up right now to be in a pro combat juggling tournament in Las Vegas. That would be like if the NFL let teams sign-up to play in their league.

“It’s a very good thing that everyone can play and it’s so easily accessible,” said Large.

Think you would like to try something new that not many people at all do? Do you have a burning passion to be a professional athlete? Can you juggle or want to learn how? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then start a combat juggling club and remember the MLC is just one email away.

“WS have a great community and the one thing that could make it better is combat juggling,” said Jenson.
