Volleyball hype squad

This season, the WS Volleyball team has become a pretty big deal and are attracting big crowds at home games.

Among the crowd, due to all the excitement of the game the fans have formed a “hype squad” for our team. At home games, many people have been showing up to support the team. People have also been supporting the team at away games as well and seem to be having an effect on our WS Volleyball players.

“The support from our friends and peers really gets the team fired up, we get a little nervous but that gets our adrenaline going,” said senior Jennifer Zimmerman.

Now that there is a certain crowd that gets very loud and cheers whenever our team scores. This creates a very spirit-filled aura and motivates the team. What better motivation is there for people screaming their lungs out for when you score?

“Now that we have a hype team, it makes us even more motivated than we were for our games and we, as a team, appreciate them for coming out and supporting us,” said junior Sydney Cordoba.

Due to the team’s hard work at practices and the strong support from the WS fans, the volleyball team has an overall record of 10 wins and 8 losses. In comparison to the previous year’s team, they have won more games and have become even more prominent than they already were.

“We have many of the same girls from last year’s team, this year. Knowing each other, we get closer, bond and it just helps to build a better team,” said Zimmerman.

Due to the Volleyball games starting in late August, unfortunately, it is coming to an end with only four more home games left in the season and eight games in total. On October 10th, the Volleyball team had a “Dig Pink” game where everyone dressed in pink for the home game to raise awareness for breast cancer. Games like this encourage the popularity of the team and draw spectators for not only the excitement of the game but for the cause of a greater good.
