Letters: PART Committee

Dear Oracle Staff:

I am writing to respond to the March 22 letter, “Committee responds to editorial,” written by the PART Committee. In my opinion, the committee does need to treat students with more respect by having better PART lessons. In some of these lessons they treat students like little kids. I think the committee should try to make lessons better by making them more for high school students so students can relate and connect with them. An example of how the PART Committee has not shown students respect is when they had the PART lesson where they talked about George Washington. While sitting through this lesson I felt like I was in fourth grade. I understand what they are trying to do but I don’t think it was very effective in getting students’ attention. Another way I think that the committee could improve PART lessons is by having the students in each class have a group conversation so they can discuss what they think they can do to be better students. That would give students a chance to show their responsibility by having their own discussions. I think this would make the PART lessons more meaningful.

Sincerely, Cody Henson
