There are millions of people who play fantasy football, but they are not as competitive as the students at WS. There is a lot of competition at WS when it comes to sports, clubs, or even academics. But none are as competitive as our fantasy football geniuses.
Fantasy football doesn’t always revolve around just betting and making money, it’s fun to just play and have fun with your friends. Some teams worry about whether they drafted the right players when in the draft room.
“I’m not sure of my team,” said sophomore Kenny St. Thomas.
St. Thomas started playing fantasy football because his brother did it, and wanted to try it out. He also plays it because it’s fun to play and its sets you up for football season. He doesn’t like betting,
but he said he enjoys playing because he gets to play with friends and family. Besides betting, St. Thomas added that he doesn’t see himself playing any other game. Fantasy football to St. Thomas is a way to play with friends but winning at it too.
Fantasy football isn’t all about winning and competing it’s about starting a dynasty.
“The ability to make your own team is great and my team is nice,” said senior Jonathan Oh.
Oh said some of the people in his league were not very active in the draft.
“In our draft people were taking people who aren’t in the NFL anymore,” said Oh.
The interesting thing part about Oh’s league is that there is gambling going on!
“There are 10 people in our league and we each bet $20,” said Oh.
Oh also said he will be back again next year.
“No one can compete with my team,” said junior Tommy Howe.
Howe started playing fantasy football last year because some of the guys on the football team told him to. Since then he has loved the game and played it ever since. Howe enjoys the game because you can talk a lot of trash with your buddies.
Some people start playing fantasy football because of their increasing knowledge of the game.
“It’s like being an NFL coach,” sophomore Daniel Adu said.
Adu enjoys fantasy football because it’s competitive and fun to play. Adu has ten people in his league and each has three or more Pro Bowlers
“This is why it is good to get the best as quick as you can” said Adu.
