The ¨Cabar-slay,¨ this year’s theme for Spartan Theatre’s annual autumn cabaret, was performed exclusively for a small student crowd this past Wednesday.
Cabarets, a short series of three minute acts performed in the theatre backbox, occur three times each school year in the autumn, late winter, and during the spring. Acts included a reading by senior Christopher Seeger of a children’s adaptation of the short story Dagon by H.P. Lovecraft, a kazoo performance of the Hamilton song “Burn” by junior Cathie Thomas, and a scary short skit by sophomores Ben Harper and Afrahna Faruky, which kept up with the cabaret’s halloween theme.
“Afrahna’s and my scene was based on the fact that Girl Scouts come to peoples’ doors. While that isn’t scary, we also combined it with the introduction to the film Scream to create a fine horror scene,” Harper said.
