The first swim and dive meet of the season against the Alexandria City Titans rewarded the Spartans with their first win of the year, with the boys’ team receiving 242.5 points and the girls’ team getting 234 points.
“My favorite thing about the swim team is that we are always super hyped, and it is just a great time whenever we are together,” said senior Sienna Schmeck.
Schmeck has been going to States to swim since she was a freshman in high school, with her best stroke being freestyle for 50 meters.
One activity that gets the team “hyped” are the cheers. Before the start of every meet, the team captains lead the rest of their fellow athletes in multiple loud and intimidating cheers for both the opposing swimmers and audience.
